I finally decided to take the plunge and turn my thoughts into action – Can a normal, ordinary, everyday guy really work only 4 hours a week, provide for his family  and still live a comfortable lifestyle?

I’m going to put the notion to the test right here on this blog  – and your invited to follow!

Starting tomorrow I’m going “cold turkey” – cutting my work hours down from 12-15 hrs per day to just 4.

I have a bit of a plan about how I’m going to approach it – I’m simply going to tell myself I only have 4 hours to get my work done – so what’s the most important things I need to get done today?

One thing I should clarify here – I don’t consider the time I spend on this web site “work time” since this isn’t directly related to the every day running of my business.

The 4 hour work week applies to hours I spend working on / in my business and time I spend on any other income producing activities – eg. shares, properties etc.

I’ll be posting my strategies and ideas, how I implement them, how they worked and give a running commentary on how I’m progressing with the whole experiment.

Take a minute to leave a comment and enter your name and email address in the small form over the left and I’ll keep you udpated on how the experiment is progressing.

Hi Mark,

This is so good idea for you. You soo much deserve some more time with your loved ones. I will keep my finger crossed for the success of this experiment!

;-)

Good luck Mark,

I don’t doubt you can get the important things done in 4 hours. But, will 4 hours be enough to feed the addiction? Look forward to seeing how you get on.

All the best!

Thanks John,

Your right you know, the ‘addiction’ is shaping up to be one of the biggest challenges so far.

I’ll keep you posted.

Greetings Mark

Wishing you all the best

Thomas

Hi Mark

It’s great to minimize the working hours to the least hours. But how can it works? this is the main issue you have to clarify.

I am now semi-retired and work no more than 5 hours a day. I discovered I wasn’t “working” full time. I was spending time reading emails, searching for information and keeping up with news and other interests.

I also had more than the average share of pro bono charitable web sites and print design work. I peddled one time consuming web site to the web developer in my business organization group. And I assigned “babysitting” duties to members of two political organizations whose web sites I created. I also began charging a nominal fee for maintaining another pro-bono site for a charity that was pretty solid and was paying salaries to others.

I’m making the same net amount now but only work from noon to 5 most days…AND NO WEEKENDS! Sometimes I close down for a day and go shopping.

Hi,

sounds great!

Love to hear more about it…

Mark

Four hours in a week I would like to see that!
